1 Timothy 2:1-8
The next step to becoming a gospel neighbor is to…
- Quit trying to manufacture results
PRINCIPLES FOR EVANGELISTIC PRAYER
• There is not a single neighbor you should not be praying for evangelistically
• Quilt worrying about God’s part in salvation and start worrying about your part in sharing (1 Timothy 2:1, 4, 6, 10; Titus 2:11, Acts 17:30, Acts 2:21, Romans 5:6, 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, Mark 16:15, Acts 3:26, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 2:2, 1 Timothy 2:2-3)
• Make sure your evangelistic prayer is not hindered (1 Timothy 2:8)
• Make sure your evangelistic praying is biblically faithful
– Convict them of their sin and lostness (Acts 2:37, John 16:8)
– Open their eyes (Matthew 16:7, 2 Corinthians 4:4)
– Draw them to Christ (John 6:44)
– Tear down strongholds (1 Corinthians 10:3-5)
– Make hearts receptive (Matthew 13:8)
– Move them to repentance and faith (Luke 13:3, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 5:7) - Stop living in fear
EVANGELISM IS NOT:
• A debate
• An attempt to turn green apples red
• A failure if they’re not interested
• A single event
• A rejection of you (it is a rejection of Jesus)
Ask God to grow your heart so full of love for that person that there is no room for fear. (1 John 4:17-21)
